After a close-run victory on Saturday, Rafal Zyla is Poland's fourth national champion in... motorized toilet bowl racing.
'The toilets are produced in New Zealand - they run on batteries and can reach speeds of up to 18 kph,' explained championships organizer Czeslaw Bajer. Races were held over an 80-metre course, with drivers beginning with a push-sprint start before jumping into seated position on the toilets.
'I train a lot at home,' says 21-year-old Zyla, who comes from the village of Dobczyce in southern Poland. He triumphed over a combined field of 36 lavatory professionals.
